Fattoria di Maiano is the ideal starting point for trekking and hiking along the paths of the Quarries. With its 50 hectares, the Botanic Garden of the Farm extends between lush forests, beautiful olive groves and spectacular panoramic views over Florence. The farm, the romantic park and the forest
The first loop of the Botanic Garden of Fattoria di Maiano is a path full of panoramas and evocative places. The agricultural landscape of the farm is an attraction in itself even for the littlest ones, with its olive trees and free-range animals. Goats, horses, Limousines cows, Amiata donkeys, geese and hens live in the open air in natural harmony. Our guided tours will bring you in contact with the daily activities of the farm, to discover the experimental cultures and the organic footprint. Continuing towards the shade of oaks, cypresses and leafy holm oaks, you will reach the small lake Laghetto delle Colonne. The setting is dominated by the stone quarry used for the construction of the columns of Basilica di San Lorenzo. Casa del Tè, created for the guests of Sir John Temple Leader, completes the romantic setting. A spectacular landscape that changes between dense vegetation, imposing cliffs and magnificent views.

Discovering the Quarries
Trekking and routes
In addition to the first loop, which is accessible both to adults and children, you will find many other trails with different levels of difficulty. Walk along Giardino degli artisti, climb to Cava della Principessa Corsini and the magnificent Terrazza Belvedere, overlooking Florence. A perfect place to have a break, before continuing towards Poggio della Lecceta. Another path will allow you to reconnect with Torrente Mensola, to visit Sorgente della Grotta and then to descend to Cava del Fossato and Sorgente della Regina Vittoria. Other routes lead to further quarries and panoramic points, or slope towards the experimental olive grove.

Night trekking
Exclusive walk at the light of torches
Those who love the most authentic and wild side of nature can not miss the opportunity of a nocturnal trekking around the paths of the Farm. Starting from the farmyard at sunset time, you will cross the Didactic Farm, to reach the Botanic Garden. Our guide will accompany you in the magic nocturnal atmosphere of the Romantic Park at the light of torches. Continuing along the path, you will hear the sounds of woods at night and the wild animals that live there. The glittering panorama of Florence at sunset and the sparkling of the city under the moonlight will be an unforgettable attraction. For those who wish, it is also possible to book a cocktail or dinner at Casa del Tè, with the products of the farm to be savored in front of the fireplace.
