The Cloister
The entrance arch and the wooden main door give way to the cloister, situated in heart of the Fattoria where once stood the ancient convent where nuns lived their cloistered life, and where you can still view the affresco painting La Madonna della Misericordia by Luca Spinelli, an important Italian painter of the late Gothic period also named Spinello Aretino.
Surrounding the cloister are several holiday apartments, the Sala del Convitto (Convitto Hall), the nuns’ ancient refectory, and the Sala Olivaia (Olivaia Hall), once the store room where olives where stored before being pressed.
The two halls and the cloister are now dedicated to business meetings, parties, anniversaries, courses, food and olive oil tasting and are also the stage for the many shows and theatrical representations put on by the farmhouse’s theatrical review ‘Stagioni in Fattoria’.
